Empid Flycatchers are notoriously difficult to distinguish. According to one author, “All are drab, the sort of neutral beige-ish colors that L.L. Bean would call taupe, mushroom, or dun, fading to off-white, oatmeal, or ecrue underneath, and all have the same white eye-ring and two white wing bars.” After consulting a guidebook, Merlin’s AI tool, and the experts on Facebook, this one turns out to be a Least Flycatcher.
