Sometimes in the early evening you’ll hear a plaintive call that sounds like, “Who cooks for you!?” That’s a barred owl, Marion County’s most common owl. This dancing owl was fluffing up for a cool evening on a trail at Fort King National Historic Landmark. The short, wooded trails behind the park take you to a sump spring that once provided water for the historic fort. It’s also a great spot for birding.
