A winter visitor to Marion County, the iconic red-breasted American Robin is the country’s most abundant land bird. In our area, they tend to appear suddenly and in large numbers, filling trees and lawns with cheerful chattering and whistling. Then, as quickly as they came, they move on. One of their favorite meals is earthworms and, true to the proverb, they rise early to pull them out of the ground.
